Baking Soda

Mix water and baking soda, in order to whiten your whites without any additives in your washing machine. Combine four liters of water with one cup of baking soda, and drop in your white laundry. Let it soak, and your clothes will be fresh and clean once finished.

Lemon Juice

There are 2 different methods for using lemon juice for whitening your clothes:

Method 1:

Place the white clothes in a big basin. Fill the basin with hot water. After adding a large amount of lemon juice in the basin, put the white clothes and leave them to soak overnight. The next day, remove the clothes from the basin and put them in your washing machine with some other detergent you use for washing the clothes.

Use this method as many times as needed and your clothes will be whither than ever.

NOTE: You can repeat this method if the first time does not bring positive results. Do not leave the clothes in the lemon juice for a long period of time.

Method 2:

The easiest way is to wash your clothes in the washing machine and in the middle of the rinse cycle add one cup of lemon juice. Hang the clothes out to dry in the sun.

Dishwasher Detergent

If you have eco- friendly dishwasher detergent at home you can use it for whitening your clothes. Also choose chlorine – free and phosphate – free detergent. Add one cup of dishwasher detergent in your regular laundry detergent.

Aspirin

This great drug for headaches will also break down the gunk that’s yellowed your whites. Dissolve five white aspirin pills in water, and add your clothes to the mix. Let them soak a while, and then toss them into your washer. Be sure to stay away from the colored varieties of aspirin, though, or your whites could come out with a colorful tincture.

Hydrogen Peroxide (3%)

Commonly you will find this item in medicine cabinets, but also in many pharmacies. Hydrogen peroxide can breathe new life into your dulled whites. Hydrogen peroxide (3%) is non – chlorine bleach. If you decide to use it then add one cup of hydrogen peroxide in your regular laundry detergent.

Distilled White Vinegar

In the usual laundry detergent add just 1 cup of distilled white vinegar. Don’t worry about the unpleasant vinegar odor because it will be gone after drying. Also you can use vinegar to spray it on spots, collar and armpit stains.
